More than 700 lawsuits in connection with the protection of the rights of the deceased and injured servicemen during April War have been filed against Azerbaijan at the Europan Court of Human Rights (ECHR), said Gevorg Kostanyan, representative of the RA Government at the ECHR, today at the meeting with journalists. Armenia’s Government has been notified by the ECHR and is officially involved in those cases as a third party. Gevorg Kostanyan said that the Government of Azerbaijan also announced that they had also filed 500-600 lawsuits against Armenia. “They can even file more lawsuits, it is another side of the issue, but there is a very important fact, in the lawsuits against Armenia, Armenia is a respondent, yet in the lawsuits filed by Azerbaijan Armenia is the third party. In both cases Armenia is notified by the ECHR. As of now Armenia has been notified only with 5 cases out of 500 filed by Azerbaijan. It means that only 5 out 500 lawsuits will be considered by the ECHR. Yet, 23 lawsuits filed by the Armenian side against Azerbaijan will be considered by the ECHR.”
