Congress-HZhK alliance demands that CEC and CC invalidate election results
The Congress-HZhK alliance is going to dispute the results of the April 2 parliamentary elections in Armenia. In a statement issued on Friday, the alliance said ‘the April 2 elections were marred by massive and systematic violations.’ Among them, the opposition bloc singles out massive vote buying, illegal collection of passports and identity cards, inaction of law enforcement agencies, intimidation of voters, abuse of administrative levers, forced re-registration of voters with the help of the police, overcrowding at polling stations, cases of guiding and double voting, violence and intimidation against journalists, proxies and observers, etc. “Considering the fact that there has been yet another attempt to grossly violate democracy and prevent people from expressing their will through large-scale voter fraud; Wanting to give an opportunity to the political forces and civil society to assess the facts and circumstances about violations; The Congress-HZhK alliance has decided to challenge the legitimacy of the elections and demand that the Central Electoral Commission and Constitutional Court invalidate the results of the 2017 parliamentary elections,” the alliance said in the statement.
