THEY LOVE ARMENIANS IN SWITZERLAND
Support A1+!«Armenians enjoy sympathy in Switzerland», Micheline Calmy-Rey, the deputy President of the Swiss Federal Council and Foreign Minister of Switzerland told a joint news conference together with the RA Foreign Minister during her first visit to Armenia. According to Mrs. Calmy-Rey, Armenian-Swiss relations develop intensively and the two countries are leading serious political dialogue.
According to Mr. Oskanyan and Mrs. Calmy-Rey, the only shortcoming of the Armenian-Swiss relations in insufficient economic cooperation. During the visit to Armenia Micheline Calmy-Rey stressed the development of the economic cooperation of the countries. With this aim the two countries signed an agreement about eliminating double taxes.
According to Mrs. Calmy-Rey, the forum presently held in Zurich will contribute to the development of the Armenian-Swiss economic cooperation. The delegation of RA Minister of Commerce also participates in the forum.
During the news conference the deputy President of the Swiss Federal Council reminded that Switzerland is one of the countries which has recognized the Armenian Genocide. As for the Swiss-Turkish relations, Mrs. Calmy-Rey considered them good and added that the denial of the Armenian Genocide is prosecuted by the law in Switzerland.
The Foreign Ministers also referred to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. Vardan Oskanyan represented the recent developments. “Switzerland is for the diplomatic settlement of the conflict. It will contribute not only to the relations of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but will also indirectly affect the relations of Armenia with Turkey,” said Micheline Calmy-Rey.
