“ZVARTNOC” IS TURNED INTO AN INTERNATIONAL ONE
Support A1+!The journalists have today been invited to “Zvartnoc” Airport to see how the new owners bring it in correspondence with the international standards. Under the requests of the contract signed between the Armenian Government and “Corporasion America S.A.” Argentine Company on December 18, 2001, repairing is implemented at the airport.
It is not known yet how much money will be invested to reconstruct “Zvartnoc”. According to the airport owners, they haven’t reached at any agreement on investments while signing the contract. ”Government didn’t tell us to spend $ 50 million or 100 million. They told us to build an airport up to the international standards”, Armen Ter-Tachatyan, advocate of “Armenia. International Airports” CJSC, says.
Work of $ 25 million will be done in “Zvartnoc” by 2004 March. By the words of Juan Pablo Gechijyan, Commercial Director of the Company, $ 12 million has already been spent for construction and lighting of landing strip and other works.
Armenian Government hasn’t yet approved the erection draft on the new airport building. Mr Gechijyan thinks a sum more than $ 50 million will be spent for only the building.
