IRAN-ARMENIA GAS PIPE CONDEMNED TO INACTIVITY

The construction of Iran-Armenia gas pipe is over and now the Iranian part is waiting for “the signal to deliver gas to Armenia”. This was mentioned by Seyed Reza Rezazadeh, head of the gas national company. According to him Iran will deliver 3 million cubic meter gas to Armenia.

Shushan Sardaryan, head of the “ArmRusGasArd” media department informed that they had no legal connection with 40 meter part of Iran-Armenia gas pipe. Today the company is engaged in the construction of 720 mm gauge pipe of Kajaran-Ararat gas pipe. According to Shushan Sardaryan they will over the construction next year. The 40 meter part of the Iran-Armenia gas pipe legally is in the balance of the RA Ministry of Energy.

“Armenia does not need additional gas supply today, and that is way we do not buy gas from Iran now”, said Lusine Harutunyan, press secretary of the Ministry of Energy. She ensured that the gas pipe is ready to starting “only there is no demand today”.
