Social

The international organization "Reporters without frontiers" has sent a letter to the president of the Republic of Armenia with the protest against the decision to deprive A1+ TV company of its broadcasting license.

The Secretary-General of the organization Mr Rober Menar considers the decision an attempt to make the principal independent voice of the country to fall silent and the most serious infringement upon pluralism, undertaken recently in Armenia.

According to the information available with the organization, the National Commission on Radio and Television with its members appointed by the president himself, decided to deprive A1+ of the broadcasting license and to grant the very license to "Sharm" company, specializing in show performances and concerts, while A1+ used to periodically provide opposition representatives with a chance to take part in informational programs.

The "Reporters without Frontiers" points out that A1+ TV company should go on broadcasting. Mr Rober Menar applied to Robert Kocharyan to personally inetfere the problem-solving process.
