WHO ISN'T WITH US, IS AGAINST US
Support A1+!Media statement, issued yesterday, has divided the informational field in two. The fact that Armenian mass media was split into so called pro-governmental and opposition-leaning camps was placed on record.
In fact, pro-governmental side issues a statement, which directed against dishonest using by some political forces the A1+ imbroglio. But it is too obvious that the statement was made in order to prove that nothing jeopardizes freedom of speech in Armenia. 17 media insist, the A1+ closure doesn’t constitute freedom restriction. This statement first of all is intended for outer world and aimed at displaying international organizations, functioning in Armenia, that they, journalists, don’t considered A1+ closure as an extraordinary phenomenon.
By this action the heads of outlets committed outrage against the conception of journalistic solidarity itself and put their subordinate journalists in hard situation. It is not necessary that a journalist, working at a pro-governmental media to be pro-governmental too, isn’t it? Working, they continue to contact us and many of them are agree that the notorious decision to strip A1+ of frequency puts in danger the freedom of speech in Armenia. Though, signing this statement, chiefs of outlets didn’t ask the opinions of their employees.
