LONG LIVE JOURNALISM SOLIDARITY! ... IF IT EXISTS

September 8-th is the International Day of Journalism Solidarity . This Holiday seems to be forgotten in Armenia. Why? Maybe, because many holidays are forgotten or idea of solidarity vanished . How can one celebrate a thing that doesn't exist?

Journalism solidarity in Armenia was last shown in April when "A1+" TV Company was banned from air . It became clear then everyone comprehends things within his or her morals.

"17 free Media" displayed a unique solidarity when appeared with the well-known statement . But who they expressed their solidarity to? Only the Authorities . Sorry, today we won't congratulate them as today is the Day of Journalism Solidarity and not the one for expressing solidarity to the Authorities.

Of course, we don't say solidarity to the Authorities is out of question. We will show cohesion when any problem of grave importance for the nation or state is discussed and if Authorities need help .

By the way, a Media having signed the 17's statement spreaded rumours before the end for frequency tender that it was subjected to pressure . After having won the broadcasting licence it declared it was free and an opposition one. And now it makes attempts to fill the gap which appeared with "A1+" shutting .

Today we congratulate those who stayed loyal to journalism ethics and solidarity in any case .
