"HIGHFEST - 2003" IN ARMENIA
Support A1+! "Highfest- 2003" international theatre festival will take place in Armenia after a 10 year break. The best theatre groups of the world will display their 25 best performances in Armenia within a week. Well-known theatre groups such as British "Restling School", Russian "Lenkom" and "Ten Operi" will participate in the festival.
Majority of theatrical groups agreed to take part in the festivl free of charge , according to festival organizers because "they love them".
Nevertheless, the actors will be granted some honorarium. They will be given only $ 1000 per performance in Armenia unlike $ 5000 to 6000 in their homeland.
50.000 $ are needed to hold the festival. The sum is not procured yet. Levon Abrahamyan, Producer-in-Chief of the festival says "they know well how to get money" . They don't expect for any grant from international organizations. The organizers have applied to Armenian president for support. They are going to apply to Armnenian businessmen, too. The festival was to be held this Autumn. The reason for postponing are constructions in our buildings.
