MP HMAYAK HOVHANNISYAN TESTIFIES ON OCTOBER 27
Support A1+!Today MP Hmayak Hovhannisyan testified upon the October 27 trial. He said he had thought a theatre performance to take place in the Parliament Hall that day . He had realized it to be true only after having seen Vazgen Sargsyan killed.
Hovhannisyan had heard no noise or shots at the corridor before the terrorists burst in the Hall. "I was listening to Finance Minister to make a speech when a noise was heard. I turned and saw shots to my direction" , he says. But Nairi Hunanyan had called him saying "Stand up! You needn't be afraid" .
Hmayak Hovhannisyan said he didn't know Hunanyan well. "I knew him to be a journalist of a maximalism character" , he says. Hovhannisyan met Hunanyan in 1998 after a 6 year long interval near the election headquarters of Karen Demirchyan. Nairi said he would second Demirchyan's candidature in the presidential elections and offered his supporting to Hovhannisyan. But Hmayak refused "because of Hunanyan's nature" . He once saw Hunanyan at Parliament but didn't pay attention to him.
After what Hovhannisyan had told Robert Kocharyan decided to negotiate with the terrorists and to keep them alive to "find out later what happened" . Hmayak Hovhannisyan was as well sent to Armenian president to introduce how the situation was.
