SOME INFORMATION ABOUT DEPRIVED PROVINCE OF LORI

We receive our pension only after all the Armenian regions’ residents are given it. It seems like we are not the citizens of Armenia”, says a resident of Lori’s village of Sanahin. The villagers say they are deprived of enjoying update information and Lori’s Alaverdi town residents even have no an opportunity to communicate with each other by phone, as the telephone network is in desperate state. They were told that Vanadzor’s dilapidated equipment is to be placed in their town after Vanadzor is given digital one and matters will be put right.
So far water supply problem also remains unsolved in Lori. People do without water because the pipeline is completely worn out. Alaverdi mayor says a sum of $500,000 is necessary to repair it.
Alaverdi residents flied their homes and went mostly to Russia. 16,000 remained of town’s 28,000 population.
