WILL IT BE GRANTED OR NOT?
Support A1+!Constitutional Court Chairman Gagik Harutyunyan informed till now CC discussed 12 appeals on election results. He says 6 out of them were granted .
He stated the above 6 appeals were granted “mainly basing upon the election fraud volume”. Harutyunyan asked Geghamyan’s representative Ruben Hovhannissyan: “If the difference between those holding 1st and 2nd places is great, how can the irregularity volume have any impact on the election results?” .
Under the data by Ruben Hovhannissyan, the election irregularity volume is 5 times more, making 11.460 than CEC one .
Ruben Hovhannissyan talked about one more illegality of CEC. “We think our candidate won the first place. But CEC didn’t recognise it” . He thinks CEC published the final protocol on elections and announced for official start of the second round at a period when none of candidates could reject his nomination.
According to Electoral Code, 10 days before the second round any of passable candidates can reject his nomination . I.e, CEC had to publish the final protocol by February 22 in order that by February 23 Stepan Demirchyan or Robert Kocharyan theoretically might have a chance to reject their office. But CEC made public the final protocol on February 25 and made the 2 candidates take part in the second round.
CC Chairman thinks a strange situation occurred. If Artashes Geghamyan’s suit is granted / if the elections are declared invalid/, the new elections are to take place on March 31. But there is nothing said in EC over disputing the results of the first round before CC. “Don’t You think we are facing a constitutional deadlock?” , Gagik Harutyunyan asked. “Yes, I think so” , Ruben Hovhannissyan said.
CC Chairman says he can arrive at a verdict today or tomorrow at best.
The next trial on the case examination for Geghamyan’s application will take place on Monday, at 11: 00 AM.
