“NO NEED TO TURN THE TENDER INTO HOSTILITY”
Support A1+!Tomorrow the TV and Radio National Committee will make public the results of the tender announced for the 25 UHF. “A1+” Chairman Mesrop Movsesyan answering “Ayb-Fe” questions.
“Many think that the tender or the tender proposal are for show, i.e, political decision will be made. What do You expect from the Committee?” .
”I wouldn’t like to politicise the issue prematurely, though there are bases for it. I am sure that we have introduced a realistic and high-quality proposal. I don’t understand why “Armenia” TV has run into hysteria. It announces that it is mighty, and how others can compete with it. The people are to decide who is mighty, and not the Committee or a TV Company chairman.
The public has struggled for ”A1+” resuming for 2 months. That’s the mightiness. I advise Bagrat Sargsyan to refrain from making such statements, considering himself too mighty or the only one in the galaxy. I just advise him, as a senior colleague, to express thoughts as less as possible to seem wiser.
“Don’t You think that the Law is to blame for making a provision for a ceased TV Company to compete with a functioning one?”
”Everyone knows us to have stopped working for a year just because of that Law. Nothing will happen if “Armenia” TV stops broadcasting for a year, too, under the same Law, especially that unlike “A1+”, it possesses 3 extra frequency ranges, which the hell knows what broadcast on. And in that case I will find 17 like-minded ones at least and will sign a statement, saying that speech freedom in Armenia is not endangered”.
“Mr Movsesyan, at the televised comments of “Armenia” TV standpoints over collaboration with CNN were expressed. “Armenia” announces it is the only one having a contract on co-operation with CNN. What do You say about it?”
”CNN is an open channel for everyone. The problem of re-broadcasting is not the one for “Armenia”. The owners of the 58th frequency re-broadcasting CNN are to be concerned about it. If “Armenia” is a shareholder of that frequency, I don’t understand why it accused me of being the founder in “Hamaspyur” Net. It’s my own affair what contracts to have”.
“Armenia” TV also made an attempt to compare by the weighty category. How it is measured?“
”I have always treated my colleagues with respect, and I’m calling upon them the same. After “A1+” had been removed from air people held rallies for months. They keep phoning and visiting us. It’s a rather mighty weighty category . Let’s be a little bit wiser not to turn a tender into hostility”.
“If “A1+” is not again granted the frequency range under the Committee decision, what will be Your next step?”
If? I would phrase the question in other way. “If the Committee again breaks the Law, acting against conscience, we will take part in the next tender” . We are not in a hurry.
“How will You evaluate the last year of “A1+” after being banned from air?”
”We have no frequency range, but are on air. It may sound odd, but we are not forgotten. Our image was not damaged without broadcasting. Others lost theirs, despite broadcasting. Coverage of election campaign and elections was the most striking illustration to it. They showed what they could. It’s the utmost they are capable of. They can’t do more”.
”Many TV Companies will be ceased, because necessity for their existence has been exhausted. Many frequency ranges will be vacant. TV Companies will be re-sold. Many will relinquish their shares because there is non-professional approach in the field”.
“Mr Movsesyan, many analysts are sure that “A1+” will get air only if power change because the present Authorities won’t display political will to see “A1+” again broadcasting. Do You really think them to be so uncompromising towards “A1+”?
”I don’t think that Authorities are so much short-sighted. But if they are, I will do my best for power change”.
