TO GIVE OR NOT? … THAT’S THE POINT
Support A1+!What has artificially been dragged out for 8 months through trials, took place at last. The tender for 5 frequency ranges was conducted in TV and Radio National Commission.
It is to remind that “A1+” TV Company has claimed for 3 out of the 5 frequencies put to tender. “Dar-21” musical channel is competing alone for its won frequency, and Noyan Tapan is claiming for one frequency, on which CNN broadcasts.
Will “A1+” and Noyan Tapan be Back to air instead of some other TV Companies? We will know this on July 18 after the Commission members give marks.
Before that the public is aware of the tender proposals of the 5+2 TV Companies. The 5 TV Companies tried hard to amend them, but then changed their mind without any basis.
This tender consisted of a few episodes. The first episode was of “Armenakob” TV’s. “A1+” competed with it for introducing program clauses. “Armenakob” tried to attach 9 new documents to the tender proposal, represented 8 months ago. But the Commission members didn’t accept any new suggestion to keep equality for the tender proposals and following the proper law.
A new tradition is being formed in TV and Radio National Commission. At the end of the tenders the TV Companies are characterised in various ways. One more formula, “exclusively family channel”, was added to the “good news” wording. “Sharm” Company is the author of the second and “Armenakob” has worded the first.
TV-5 TV Company was prominent for nonsense. Let’s remind one of the Armenian Laws, under which one juridical or physical person can’t own more than 1 TV and 1 Radio Companies. When TV-5 representative talked about the investor for the financial project of the company, it became clear that “Norton Trust” Company was going to provide the 2.000.000$ out of the investment of 2.500.000$, which TV-5 had promised. There the Commission members noticed a surprising coincidence: the same company was ready to finance “Armenia” TV Company at the previous tender.
A question arose – is a Law broken and whether there is any connection between the 2 TV Companies? The TV Company representatives rejected connection, and the Committee members naively believed them.
It is vital for TV-5 TV Company that the Committee permits it to rebroadcast M-TV in Armenia. Under the tender proposal introduced to the Committee, if M-TV broadcasts in Armenia, the Armenian musicians will be given a chance to appear to the international public.
Besides, the TV Company workers believe that “In Alfred’s Room” TV-Show is of educational character. During a few years of activity the TV Company produces 3 authors’ programs - TOP-5, “Under the Table”, and “Sauce”.
As to “A1+” TV tender proposal, the TV Company is going to establish an Armenian-Georgian-Azeri News Centre with the regional partner TV companies, and if working to stay loyal to its motto “Watch us, know yourself!”.
