TRIAL OVER NAGHDALYAN’S MURDER DRAGGED OUT
Support A1+!Today the First Instance Court of Kentron, Nork Marash Communes continued the trial over Tigran Naghdalyan’s murder. It is to remind that at the previous session Felix Arustamyan’s defender Zaruhi Postanjyan had asked for 2 days to look through the case materials and to get to know her client.
Today prosecutor Zelim Tadevosyan holding “Hayots Ashkharh” Daily with special respect announced that he had become aware of an article there, which said that Armen Sargsyan’s representative Hovik Arsenyan had been sentenced in the past for bribery and illegal bearing of a gun. Then he solicited the judges to temporarily suspend Arsenyan’s activity on this case, since he had got licence under false reference when the term for previous conviction hadn’t yet expired.
Hovik Arsenyan informed the Court that he really was sentenced in 1997. ”It was one of the shady businesses of 1996”, he said and added that after being released before the appointed time he passed examinations in 1998 and got right to be occupied with advocacy. In 1999 he got licence after being qualified. When the Union of Armenian Advocates and the International Union of Advocates united in 2002 Hovik Arsenyan again received licence, which is now affiliated to the case .
There is something to be surprised at. Avag Avagyan, one of prosecutors of Naghdalyan’s murder case was as well the prosecutor for Murad Bojolyan’s case. Hovik Arsenyan was Bojolyan’s defender. Why were they silent over the above facts on Arsenyan? Why did they decide to hit the roof of them now? /Of course, they knew it as the case was under Prosecutor’s jurisdiction, Hovik Arsenyan explains/. ”Why didn’t they suspend me in March when I was the case defender? Now when it becomes obvious that proof was distorted, they just need to slander Armen Sargsyan for mere display as if he deals with such kind of people”, Arsenyan said at talk with journalists.
However, the Court decided to grant petition of the prosecution and without asking the standpoint of Armen Sargsyan, i.e, breaking law, judge Saribek Aramyan temporarily deprived Hovik Arsenyan of the right to partake in the trial till Office of Prosecutor and the Advocates’ Union sent the final resolution over the licence.
The trial will continue on September 16.
