THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ARMENIAN STUDIES TO START
Support A1+!The international conference on Armenian studies started working in the National Academy of Sciences. It will be held from September 15-20. Yerevan State University and the NAS initiated the idea for it.
About 250 specialists on Armenian studies were sent to invitations. Only 80 arrived in Armenia. 60 specialists from Diaspora and 110 ones of Armenia will appear with reports on their scientific works. 4 branches are involved in the project - history, philology, culture and medieval literature. 3 round table discussions on “Armenia in the Regional Political, Social and Economic Processes”, “Education and Armenian Studies”, “Armenian Identity and Protection of Armenians in Diaspora”, are envisaged within the conference.
The conference partakers underline importance of elaborating a complex project on development of Armenian studies. They hope that a document will be made, which will initiate the project works.
The international conference of Armenian studies will discuss the problems in the education sphere. Certain suggestions on unification of schoolbooks of Armenia and Diaspora will be made.
As to the language, the Western or Eastern Armenian, the Armenian specialists suggest to do everything possible to make both orthographies alike. It’s absurdity to replace one by another, YSU Pro-rector Aram Simonyan is sure.
