IN MEMORY OF THE PERISHED FIGHTERS
Support A1+!Today the fighters of “Vardanank” detachment have commemorated their perished friends in Saint Gayane Church of Echmiadzin and in Erablur.
”In 1989 the fighters of “Vardanank” detachment came to this Church and asked me to bless them before the battle. I blessed them and I cherish the tradition up till now”, clergyman Gurgen Ashuryan told those assembled in Saint Gayane Church.
”Vardanank” detachment was set up in 1989. There were 70 fighters there. The detachment has been partaking in all the self-defense battles for the boundary districts of Armenia since 1989.
From October 17-19, 1992, during occupation of the hills of Ghojazi village of Lachin district the detachment had heavy casualties – 9 died and 56 were wounded.
Though 11 years have passed since then memory of the gone friends will forever live among the fighters, Manvel Mirzajanyan, the fighter of “Garegin Njdeh” detachment, says.
