MURDERERS WON’T BE SENTENCED TO DEATH PENALTY

Defendants were sentenced for seizing state power, terror, murdering state, political, public figures, ceasing their activity, murder attempt, illegal obtaining, bearing, selling and transporting of weapons.
Many of those present were not surprised at the verdict, except the part for Ashot Knyazyan. Prosecution has solicited to sentence 5 of the defendants for life imprisonment, Ashot Knyazyan to 15 years and Hamlet Stepanyan to 14 years in custody.
They both didn’t rush into the Parliament Hall and waited outside. During the trial defendant Nairi Hunanyan announced that his friend of 20 years Ashot Knyazyan “was not in the group” and learn about it only the terror day.
Victims’ representatives and assignees had demanded the Court to apply the same utmost punishment to all of the defendants. ”A criminal band acted, each of them had his role”.
Representatives of the Sargssyans and the Demirchyans have today boycotted the verdict publication. According to them, the essential circumstances of the case and the real masterminds of “October 27” weren’t disclosed during the trial.
”Everything was done to make them speak. The eldest scum was forced to say that Kocharyan had ordered it or else his brother would be hanged. They put him near a wall and shot at him. But he didn’t say who the organizer was. To tell the truth I don’t care who he is. If there are serious facts, let them produce to Court or other bodies, independent newspapers for instance like “The Fourth Power”, Communication and Transport Minister Andranik Manukyan commented confirming the statements of the defendants saying they had undergone violence.
Under the Criminal and Procedural Code, trial participants can appeal against the verdict within 15 days applying to the Review Court of Criminal and Military Cases.
