ACADEMICIANS WANT TO GET RID OF SERGO ERITSYAN

Parliament Speaker Arthur Baghdasaryan met Academicians of National Academy of Sciences at their request. It turned that besides the main problems academicians had one more demand to Speaker.

Biochemistry Research Institute Director Konstantin Gharagyozyan spoke on behalf of many academicians: ”Such a Minister /Education and Science Minister Sergo Eritsyan/ is disgraceful for our science. Free us from such ministers”.

Academician was anxious because in an interview to a newspaper Sergi Eritsyan had said that there’s no need to allot money to science by state.

To solve the problem Academician suggested Parliament Speaker to “join Sergo Eritsyan and Tamara Poghosyan /Culture and Youth Minister/ and to set up an education and culture department and to channel the sums for Education and Science Ministry to science development”.

Arthur Baghdasaryan reacted to the suggestion oversensitively and announced that there’s no intention to relieve Sergo Eritsyan from his post.

As to other demands of academicians, they have appealed to Parliament and asked it to support establishment and intensification of relations with Academies of other states.

Armenian National Academy of Sciences has received 92 suggestions for cooperation from Russia.

Academicians also want legislative solutions to science progress.
