GLASS ENLARGEMENT OF CASCADE COMING

”In 2005 spring construction of enlargement for Yerevan’s Cascade costing $ 25 million will start”, David Hotson, Architect of Modern Art Museum of Gafesjyan, announced at today’s press conference.
He says under the preliminary plan it is envisaged to build new public rest places, a decorative pool, and parks of statues. Mr. Hotson underlined the fact of erecting a new glass tower, where the glass collection of Gafesjyan will find shelter, and a memorial symbolizing independence of Armenia. The scheme of it will be selected at a tender.
David Hotson assured all the elements of the Armenian architecture - tufa stone and the unique architectural pattern will be adhered to in the new buildings.
According to John Waters, Vice-Chair of Gafesjyan Museum Fund, not to spoil the appearance of Cascade an agreement has been reached with Yerevan Municipality regarding usage of 50-meter-long green zone from both sides of Cascade and non-construction of many-storied buildings in the territory nearby.
