Support A1+!From September 13-14 80 young web-programmers of Armenia will check their knowledge in Yerevan State Polytechnic University. “Lycos Armenia” Organization is holding the first contest of web-programmers.
The 35 best web-programmers will partake in the final on September 18. The winners will be offered jobs in “Lycos Armenia”. The organization functioning since 2002 implements development projects of Internet technologies in Armenia.
Students of Yerevan State Polytechnic University, Yerevan State University and other institutes of higher education take part in the competition. There are participants who already work in the sphere and consider the contest as a good way to try own capacities.
Majority of participants and web-programmers in Armenia in general are boys. Arpine Grigoryan, the 4th year student of “Computer Technologies and Information Science” Faculty of Yerevan State Polytechnic University, says she will partake in the contest though the boys of her course won’t like it. “They say the girls don’t possess enough logic for this specialty”, she laughs saying she hopes to be in the best 35.
She studies at Department of “Protection of Information”, i.e, she learns to protect the sites from computer hackers and various Internet viruses.
”Lycos Armenia’ representative Anna Gevorgyan says there is a great potential of web-programmers in Armenia and the aim of the contest is to find the youth power. She also stated that training of web-programmers in Armenia is not of professional quality, so they have to improve either by self-education or by leaving abroad for retraining.
