EXEMPLARY PROJECT

In the context of “Strategic Programs on Poverty Reduction” and “Millennium Development Goals” a support program was signed between UNDP and Armenian Government. Armenian PM Andranik Margaryan and UNDP Coordinator Liz Grande have ratified it today.
This project was worked out for the first time for Armenia. According to PM, it opens new horizons for a close cooperation between UNO and Armenian Government.
The new project is to coordinate 2005-2009 programs of cooperation of UNO agencies in Armenia and to “attract additional resources to Armenia”. “However, Armenian Government will be the one to coordinate the project and UNO Office will establish a proper sub-unit, which will be occupied with monitoring”, PM says.
Liz Grande assures that the project was “deeply welcomed” in UNO and can serve an example for other states as an efficient model.
The project will be directed to improvement of economical, social, democratic and ecological spheres mainly.
