PEOPLE RETURNING THE SOCIAL CARDS

”Thousands of citizens have rejected the social cards for religious or legal reasons. Majority of them handed the cards they had been imposed on to us – “Armenian Constitutional Right Defence Centre” and asked us to return the cards to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare since the proper bodies refuse to take them back”, Gevorg Manukyan, Chairman of ACRDC said at the press conference held in Journalists’ House. Request of 130 citizens has been satisfied.
According to Manukyan, a letter was received from Ministry, which informed that citizens rejecting the social cards will face their individual data blocked.
In fact, thousands of people, mostly the needy population will be deprived of the possibility to receive their wages, pensions and allowances beginning from January 1, 2005.
“Armenian Constitutional Right Defence Centre” and other organizations for right protection announce that the further steps taken for execution of the Law on ”Cards of Social Welfare” are fraught with serious consequences, so they appeal to Armenian Parliament and Government to delete pressure from the law.
