HUNGER STRIKE AS MEANS OF SUICIDE
Support A1+!Military serviceman Razmik Sargsyan continues his 90-day hunger strike in the Noubarashen criminal institution. He is accused of the murder of fellow servicemen Hovsep Mkrtoumyan and Roman Eghiazaryan and was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.
As the very last means to prove his innocence the convict has chosen the hunger strike. A council of NGOs has been created to investigate the case of Razmik Sargsyan. The representatives of NGOs rendered a press conference today in «Azdak» club.
«Yesterday we visited the Noubarashen criminal institution and saw Razmik Sargsyan. His condition worsens day by day. He asked us to inform that he will continue the hunger strike. He is ready to take more serious measures as he feels there's no other way to prove his innocence. We tried to persuade him to change his mind but all in vain», said advocate Stepan Voskanyan who defends Razmik Sargsyan's interests in the Court of First Instance.
Today head of the Human Rights Defense International Committee advocate Ashot Atoyan announced that the murder accusation of Razmik Sargsyan is a myth, «He has nothing to do with the affair. The accusation was brought against him by means of beatings and different psychological violations. The true murderers are free and possibly laugh at our efforts to save the innocent convict».
The Council of NGOs has organized many acts of complaint opposite the prosecutor’s office, sent many letters to them, organized round tables and press conferences and will keep going forward until they win justice.
As for Razmik Sargsyan’s health conditions, according to member of the Council Zarouhi Kostanyan twice a day he is injected glucose. She also said that Razmik Sargsyan sometimes faints because of problems with kidneys.
