ADVOCATES STILL ALARMED
Support A1+!Today the advocates of prisoner Razmik Sargsyan and a number of NGOs rendered a press conference to speak about his health. The reason of the meeting was the announcements of the Justice Ministry that no pressure is exercised upon Razmik Sargsyan. “Irrespective of whether he is guilty or innocent, the problem is that he needs medical aid, but instead of that he is taken to the court and back to the isolator. He can die on that way”, head of the NGO “Hope” Karen Hakobyan said.
For the last 8 days Razmik Sargsyan has been examined by 3 independent doctors who mentioned in their conclusion that he needs serious investigation which is impossible to carry out in the isolator.
According to the advocates, during the December 1 meeting with Razmik he informed that he has been fed by force which is denied by the Justice Ministry. During the visit of one of the doctors the isolator doctor said that perhaps the boy meant the gastroscope investigation. “Even if he did, there has been no mention about it in the medical card. Besides, he told us that others have meals in the cell and offer him to eat. This announcement is followed by that of the Justice Ministry according to which on December 2 one of Razmik’s co-prisoners ceased the hunger-strike. Now we only need to add the claims of the head of the criminal-executive institution, “Don’t worry, we will not let him die”. As for how he is going to keep his promise, I hope the Justice ministry will explain”, advocate Zarouhi Postanjyan says.
The December 2 visit of the advocates together with the doctors and public observers gave room for new contradictions. According to the observers, Razmik informed that no pressure has been applied upon him in connection with the hunger-strike. Immediately after that during the meeting with the advocates they were surprised greatly by the positive changes in the boy during one day.
Zarouhi Postanjyan tells, “He could walk and sit without anybody’s help. After that the situation changed immediately: he started to shake, had a loss of memory and kept repeating, “It is not me, it is not me”. According to the advocates, he had difficulty remembering the names of his parents. According to the doctors, this can be the result of hormones or other preparations which have a short effect on the organism.
Advocate Ashot Atoyan mentioned that they want an immediate trial, «We want him to get well, and during the trial many people will help us to save his life».
