COURT UPHOLDS HOVANNISIAN’S CLAIM
Support A1+!The First Instance Court of Kentron and Nork-Marash Communities upheld Raffi Hovannisian’s claim against RA General Prosecutor’s Office.
The court annulled the 2006 decision of the Department for the Protection of State Interests. The decision can be appealed at the RA Court on Criminal and Marshal Issues.
To remind, on 8 March, 2006, unidentified individuals broke-in the office of the “Heritage” Party in the premises of the Paronyan State Theater and gained illegal entry into the party’s database.
The Department for the Protection of State Interests of the Armenian General Prosecutor’s Office didn’t bring an action as “the facts were unwarranted.” The department representative announced that no information was copied out from the computer and the latter was not damaged. Then he added that he doubted whether the incident occurred the mentioned day.
Raffi Hovannisian stated that they had presented complete facts to satisfy their petition.
Raffi Hovannisian voiced hope that the court would bring in a fair verdict.
The General Prosecutor’s Office must protect the interests and rights of each party and individual within its liabilities and responsibilities, Raffi Hovannisian said.
He is convinced that gradually the judicial system will improve due to ongoing amendments.
“I hope an investigation will be launched to reveal the interested side. It is an anchor of hope for justice administration in the country.”
