The residents of an Abovian hostel adjoining “Abovian” Penitentiary grouped near the RA Government November 21.

Two years ago they received a summons to vacate the premises.

“We have requested different ministries and departments to tackle the problem but so far we have got no response. We are concerned over our further status. We don’t know whether we shall live in the hostel further on or whether the building will be privatized,” resident Alyona Alexanian told A1+. She has been living in the hostel since 1978.

We urge the government to grant us certificates to flats. It is rather unpleasant for us to live side by side with colonists, Alyona Alexanian adds.

It is due to mention that open-regime colonists live side by side with 20-22 families of the hostel.

The demonstrators were sent back to Abovian to negotiate with the head of the colony. The government promised to receive the protesters in case no agreement is reached.
