SEVERAL PROTESTS AT THE GOVERNMENTAL BUILDINGS
Support A1+!Today several protest actions were simultaneously going on at the Governmental Buildings. A group of protesters demanded that the constructions at “Teghut” Mine be ceased, another group of Northern Avenue and Buzandi Street residents demanded their houses back, still others, farmers of Dalma Gardens and Kanaker-Avan, wanted their green lands back.
All of them had the same demand – a just solution to their problems. The protesters, who spoke in protection of “Teghut”, demanded that the RA Government cease the operations at “Teghut” Mine as it is harmful for both the environment and the local population.
“In fact ordinary citizens will suffer, whereas it is profitable for certain people”, declares Zaruhi Postanjian, member of the “Heritage” Party. About 3 hectare perennial trees have already been cut down for the exploitation of “Teghut” Mine. Consequently, a question arises “In whose interests is the project?”
Residents of Buzandi Street and Northern Avenue complained that there was no reply to their letters from the Government.
Vachagan Hakobian, Chairman of the “Protection of Property Rights” NGO, stated that Tigran Sargssian hag given no reply to their letter.
The farmers of Kanaker-Zeytun stated they were already sick and tired of writing letters to the Government since there was no reply anyway.
“I have been cultivating the earth for 20 years. I converted the rubbish into a green paradise and now they want to wipe out all my property”, complained Juliet Aslanian.
By the way the farmers are recommended to buy their own lands.
