OMBUDSMAN IN SYUNIK
Support A1+!In the frames of previously arranged regional visits RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunian and his work team have left for Syunik Region to find out the problems concerning human rights. During his visit Harutyunian met Governor of Syunik Suren Khachatrian, as well as mayors of Goris, Kapan, Sisian, Meghri and Agarak.
The work team also called at the “Goris” Penitentiary, where they met dozens of detainees. Director of the Penitentiary showed the Ombudsman the newly-repaired wards for long- and short-term appointment. Before, the Ombudsman had often sent official notes to the Justice Minister informing him about the absence of appointment wards in penitentiaries.
Among lots of other issues the Ombudsman also discussed the problems of a hostel occupied with refugees in Kapan, Press Center of the Human Rights Defender informs.
