ENTRANCE THRESHOLD STILL UNKNOWN

RoA Deputy Minister of Education Bagrat Yesayan summed up the results of the entrance exams-2008 on July 11. He says the exams were held in a quitter atmosphere this year if compared with the previous years.

“I do hope that the conduct of exams will advance year by year. We are attempting to make it an ordinary routine for the society. Applicants will be given a chance to take an exam in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Bagrat Yesayan.

The assignments were well chosen. On the whole, the tests were bettered and targeted at applicants having medium knowledge base. The entrance threshold significantly lowered in comparison with the previous years though the threshold is still unknown.

Overally, 34 393 pupils participated in the exams. 0.23% of applicants got the highest-2twenty score in the Armenian Language and Literature, 0.78% -in the Russian Language, 0.57 in Mathematics and 1.11-in foreign languages. 1438 applicants /14.03 %/ failed the exams.

The Deputy Minister notes that the level of the Russian language is very high in Armenia. The thirteen awards and diplomas /a Grand-Prix and four first-place honours/ won at the International Olympiad testify to his belief.
