One needs at least 40 thousand drams to buy an artificial Christmas tree today. The prices of artificial fir trees have gone up in Armenia.
“I wanted to buy a tall tree for my children but I cannot afford one as a two-metre Christmas tree costs 71 000 drams. So, I have to buy a smaller one at a lower price,” Yerevan citizen Karen Hakobyan said to A1+.
Actually, the prices of artificial firs start from 40 000 to 145 000 drams at the capital markets. Sellers say the trees are imported China at a higher price.
“Prices of goods are going up, and we have to keep abreast with the times as taxes and expenses remain the same. No matter how much we want to bring down prices I cannot lower the general rate,” said the director of a trade centre.
