Sixteen residents living near the State College of Echmiadzin made their way to Yerevan today to demand Serzh Sargsyan to solve their problem, but the police officers were not too welcoming. This is not the first time that they are organizing a protest in front of the presidential residence.
The residents demand the president to sign the contracts for the areas conceded to them, which have not been signed to date.
“The regional council representatives told us that they don’t know who is going to give the contracts. So, the contracts have turned into wonderful pieces,” told “A1+” one of the demonstrators Aghavni Ghazaryan.
Another demonstrator said that they had heard that they were going to be thrown out of their homes by the end of February and in that case they will be out on the streets.
Demonstrators were told to go back to the regional council where head of the region will receive them. But the demonstrators didn’t believe that and continued to stand in front of the gate of the presidential residency. The police officers asked them to cross the street and then applied force.
When the police officers started pushing and shoving the demonstrators, one of them lost consciousness and the police called an “ambulance”.
