FIRST TIME WITH LATVIA
Support A1+!The Armenian and Latvian football teams will play a friendly match on February 11, 2009 in Cyprus making it the first match between the Armenian and Latvian teams.
At present, the Latvian team is 82nd on the FIFA list. In 2007, the Latvian team coach was former coach of the Moscow “Spartak” Alexander Starkov.
The Latvian soccer players are mainly those that play in clubs. There are also legendary players of which the most famous is Maris Verpakovski from the Spanish “Celta” team. Verpakovski has played 73 times for the national team and has scored 23 goals.
Last year, the Armenian team took part in the Malta international competition where it played three matches, but this year the Armenian team will only play with Latvia.
On March 28, Armenian soccer players will face-off with the Estonian team during the selective match for the 2010 World Cup.
ANOTHER MEETING
On December 20 at 2 p.m. the 6th meeting of the “Armenian Football Federation” will take place in the home/headquarters of the federation, after which head of the AFF Ruben Hayrapetyan will hold a press conference.
The awards ceremony for the winners of the Armenian championship will take place on December 23, 2008 during which the name of the best player of Armenia of this year will be announced.
