March 24 is the International Day for the Fight against Tuberculosis. On this day, representatives of "Doctors without borders" international organization are distributing flyers on treatment and prevention of tuberculosis with signs reading "Armenia without tuberculosis" near the "Yeritasardakan" metro of Yerevan, the "Moscow" cinema, the Grigor Lusavorich church and the Garegin Nzhdeh square.

Representatives of the organization are presenting passer-bys with the disease and telling them to consult with them in case of need.

"We chose the places where we could pass out as many flyers as possible," said manager of the organization Alexandra Varner.

Tuberculosis has been around for the past 100 years, while effective drugs for curing the disease have existed for more than 50 years. Despite that, more than 2 million people die from tuberculosis. The main reason for that is because those diagnosed with tuberculosis are not cured on time.

Treatment of tuberculosis in Armenia is done through state orders. The illness is curable when it is diagnosed and cured on time. As to how many people are diagnosed with tuberculosis, the National Office for Tuberculosis promised to respond within two hours.
