Armenian chess players played with black figures in the 6th round of the FIDE Gran Prix.

Leading chess player Levon Aronyan faced off against French chess player Etien Bakro whom Aronyan knew rather well. The match ended with a tie and Aronyan continues to head the chess board with 4.5 points.

Five chess players follow Levonyan with 4 points each. Sergey Karyakin, Yevgeni Alexeyev, Peter Leko, Alexander Grishchuk and Piotr Svidler are in 2nd-6th places.

Vladimir Hakobyan, Shkiryar Mammedyarov, Rustam Kasimjanov and Etien Bakro come in at 7-10th places. In this round Hakobyan competed against Alexander Grishchuk and the game ended with a tie.

Ukrainian Vasili Ivanchuk closes the chess board with 2 points and was considered one of the main contenders for victory.
