They will tell in advance in case of danger
Citizens came out to the streets today after the earthquake that struck the cities of Yerevan, Abovyan, Byureghavan and nearby residential areas. They spread the news that there were new quakes waiting to happen.
Some office workers came out of their offices and parents were called to pick up their children from the kindergarten.
"A1+" tried to ask the National Seismic Defense Service if there is need to worry.
Executive Director of the "Seismic Defense Service-Western Region" Non-State Trade Organization Aram Javadyan told "A1+" that there is no need to panic at the moment.
"We have sent our men to the epicenter zone to conduct studies on the spot. We will inform you in advance if anything is going to happen," he said to "A1+".
Javadyan said that the 5-point earthquake that took place just 10 kilometers north from the village of Garni at 12:34 p.m. was an ordinary tectonic earthquake.
"It was an ordinary tectonic earthquake, which could have been followed by a weak aftershock or could have not. Anything is possible. Information is currently being checked and we will inform everyone in advance in case of any danger. There is no need to panic at the moment," said Javadyan.
