Who is to shoulder responsibility?
If a pedestrian crosses the street in a wrong place the responsibility for an accident lies on him but if the accident occurs on the pedestrian crossing the fault lies on the driver.
That's the exact truth but there is a third case in Armenia when one can hardly find anyone guilty.
In a few central streets such as Arami and Byuzand, pedestrians cannot walk on pavements and have to go along the streets causing traffic accidents.
For instance, one of the pavements of Arami Street is impassable because of the construction of an elite building. The other pavement is parked by cars of shop and office owners.
The fate of each pedestrian is in the hands of passing cars.
"Every time I cross the street I feel like coming into the world anew," 55-year-old Angela Grigoryan said to A1+.
"This is a real ordeal. Why should we walk on the street and fear from being knocked down? Look, all the pavements are occupied by luxurious cars? The traffic police hardly care for pedestrians," said Mher Gevorgyan.
To have a general picture of the street one needs to stand there for a few minutes.
