Public Transportation Fares remain the same
Fares for intercity transport will not go up in the nearest future, says Transport and Communications Minister Gurgen Sargsian.
Transportation is carried out according to the fare fixed in tenders that are held every 3-5 years. "If drivers complain of fares the ministry may announce a new tender and reconsider the prices."
Among other issues Gurgen Sargsian also spoke about the reopening of the Armenian-Turkish border saying it will be advantageous to Armenia. "Turkey possesses serious transport possibilities. The country has great ports and the freight charge is more beneficial in Turkey than in Armenia."
Ashot Shahnazarian, former Chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, will head the construction of the Iran-Armenia railway, added Gurgen Sargsian.
