Letter of condolence

His Holiness, Supreme Patriarch, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II sent a letter of condolence to chairman of the Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Tsetina, metropolit of Chernogorya Primoria, patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Holiness Amfilikt on the occasion of the death of the Patriarch of Pavle, His Holiness, head of the Serbian Orthodox Church. In the letter of condolence, it is stated:

"The Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin was informed with deep sorrow about the death of our beloved brother Patriarch Pavle on November 15, 2009. We bring our condolences to the clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and all believers, the authorities of the Serb Republic on the death of the late patriarch.

The late Patriarch Pavle lived and worked in a decisive period in the history of the Serbian church and nation. The patriarch fought against the persecutions and tribulations in different atheist regimes and stood by the clergy's side as a bishop and eventually a Patriarch. He guided the Serbian Orthodox Church as a strong patriarch and beloved leader.

The patriarch contributed to the establishment of peace in the Balkans, dialogue of religions and protection of rights of the Serbian nation and his life and work serve as a source of inspiration for generations. We pray that Lord Jesus Christ will rest Patriarch Pavle's soul and we ask for the Holy Spirit's console for the Serbian Orthodox Church, the authorities of Serbia and its belivers. For the sake of the Catholicosate of All Armenians, delegate of the Patriarchate of Central Europe, Archbishop Mesrop Grigoryan will participate in the funeral of Patriarch Pavle.
