“Yeghegnut has turned into Kuwait”
Residents of the Yeghegnut village of the Armavir Marz gathered near the RA Government building today to protest against the actions by former NA Deputy Hakob Hakobyan.
According to the villagers, the former deputy and his trustee, Susanna Harutyunyan, have illegally entered the villagers' fields and are not letting their cattle breed there. The problem is that there are many sand mines there and the former deputy has decided to, as villagers say, "privatize them and extract the sand."
Villagers say that the former deputy has surrounded the territory with police from Yerevan and dogs and is not letting the residents of Yeghegnut come close to the fields.
"Yeghegnut has turned into the mine in Kuwait," resident of Yeghegnut Yerjanik Karapetyan said.
The residents of Yeghegnut gathered near the government building assured that the production unit of the sand dunes is the property of the district and Hakob Hakobyan has decided to reach his goal through the court. "The Armavir Marz court headed by Hrachik Sargsyan has turned into Hakob Hakobyan's (nickname Tchoyt) own business-he orders whatever verdict he wants. Yesterday the court reached a verdict so that Susanna Harutyunyan uses the belongings of the district. In case of any impediments, the village council will be held responsible," village resident Vardan Margaryan told "A1+".
The villagers were received by representative of the governmental division in charge of reception of letters and citizens, Alexander Ghazaryan, although the villagers wanted to personally meet with the RA Prime Minister. The residents of Yeghegnut didn't hear anything new from Ghazaryan and have no hope for anything. The government representative only promised that a delegation will go to the village to find out the situation. The residents of Yeghegnut then left for the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration with the hope to get help from there.
