The army is our country's most functional structure
On the occasion of Army Day, opposition leaders laid wreaths today near the memorials of soldiers who died in the Artsakh war. Leader of the People's Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan considers the Armenian Army as the most functional structure of the Third Republic of Armenia.
Stepan Demirchyan first congratulated the families of freedom fighters and those who contributed to the development of the army and are currently deprived of their liberty for their political views.
Demirchyan underscored that the problems concerning the army must not be forgotten today. "The problems must be eliminated."
Stepan Demirchyan sadly mentioned that the current authorities are using the army to solve their own problems. "The use of the army against the people must be excluded in any case. Those who brought the army against the people in March 2008 must be brought to justice."
The leader of the People's Party of Armenia finds that applying force against the people for political motives first and foremost destroys the people's trust in the army. "Generally, it is impossible to have trust in a country where the authorities are not established through normal elections. Many issues will be solved on their own in the case of free and fair elections."
