Parents, teachers and pupils of a Hrazdan private school today staged a protest outside the RA government with a demand to extend the school's activity.

The Ministry of Education and Science has decided to suspend the schools' license since it failed to meet some criteria.

"We are satisfied with the education our children receive at school. The Ministry says there is not enough room for all children. Come and have a look at other schools where 3-4 children sit at the same desk," complained Armine Hakhverdyan.

Our children have studied together for nine years and now the government wants to separate them. I beg you to let our children finish the year," said AsStghik Voskanyan.

Over 80 parents have turned to Khachatur Marozyan, President of the International Association of Lawyers and Psychologists. The latter has addressed letters to the country's President, Prime Minister, UNO and other international structures dealing with the protection of children's rights.

"Parents are entitled to decide their children's fate, arrange their education and upbringing. Today the government binds them an anti-constitutional decision making them transfer their children to another school," said Mr. Marozyan.

"According to some verified sources, the government is carrying out an order. We are determined in our protest. The most important is that the parents are unanimous in their demand," he added.

The  executive body promised to address the issue in the nearest future.
