The National Assembly took out today the issue of the Turkey-Armenia Protocols until the Turkish side is ready to continue the process without preconditions.

"A1+" took a survey to find out RA citizens' opinions. Citizens who participated in the survey think the moratorium was necessary because only after Turkey takes its decision must the National Assembly touch upon the issue.

"We have our concrete decision on the issue. If the Turks ratify the Protocols, we will definitely ratify them. If we ratify them, we may become the laughing-stock and will be asked why we ratified them," said Pavel Siradeghyan.

Gayane Pampukhchyan says only Armenia has the right to set preconditions and Turkey can't. Karlen Adamyan agreed with Pampukhchyan. According to him, Armenia must ratify the Protocols only after Turkey. But he doesn't consider it right to not have any relations with Turkey at all.

Chairman of "Haykandukht" party Armenuhi Ghazaryan said the process must stopped and the signatures must be taken back because the Protocols are not in the interests of the nation, endanger the nation's statehood, welfare and the future of the children.

"Who closed the border? Why should both sides sign? The one that closed the border should open it and sign. Armenia did not close any border, Turkey did and it should open that border," said Armenuhi Ghazaryan.

Citizen Suzanna Karapetyan says the process must be put to an end because it doesn't fall in line with the historical truth that has faced us throughout time.

"The Protocols definitely contain preconditions relating to the creation of a historical commission and recognition of Turkey's territorial integrity."

Let us remind that the Turkey-Armenia Protocols were signed in October 2009 in Zurich.
