Citizens of Aparan Town today gathered in front of the National Assembly protesting a draft law under which persons, who did not serve in the army, will not be eligible to enter the Police Academy.

"We do not evade compulsory military service. But they should give us a chance to enter the academy and then think of service. They are violating our rights," said Narek Nersisyan.

The parents were in utter despair. They said they had sold part of their property and jewelry to send their children to private studies so that they would be able to enter the academy. And today they are in a panic as the law implies restrictions.

The protesters were received by chairman of the Republican faction Galust Sahakyan who promised to handle the issue in the near future.

On April 29, the Armenian parliament adopted the draft law on amending the RA Law on Police Service that was submitted by the government for the second reading.
