Nearly 20 students and teachers of Nubarashen's N11 school for children with special needs were protesting against the decision by the RA Minister of Education and Science at the UN Office in Yerevan.

After the court ruled that former educator Levon Avagyan was guilty of child molestation, school principal Meruzhan Yengibaryan was removed from office. The former students of the school also accuse him of cruel behavior towards them.

All protesters assured that Meruzhan Yengibaryan was unaware of former educator Levon Avagyan's actions and must be back in office.

"One child or employee should affirm that Yengibaryan was aware of that," said the teachers.

Vice-principal of the school Donara Hovhannisyan assured that she had been working at the school for over a decade and no child had appealed to her with such issues.

They blamed volunteer Mariam Sukhudyan for the principal's removal. Let us remind that Mariam Sukhudyan had raised concerns about the state of affairs at the school.

The protesters tried to convey their concerns to the UN Office in Yerevan. UN Development Program PR Correspondent Hovhannes Sarajyan informed that though the issue was not within the limits of their competence, the UN Resident Representative to Armenia could pay a visit to the school.

Those gathered in front of the UN Office noted that they will organize frequent actions with the demand to bring the school principal back.
