Initiative group to appeal to court
"We are the masters of this city" civil initiative is preparing a class suit challenging the legality of the construction in Students' Park.
The initiative group demands that the construction be stopped, the park be restored and returned to its real masters - citizens of Yerevan.
"It is time to create a precedent for Yerevan not to fall into the clutches of concrete casting," announced the civil initiative.
The construction of two cafes in the garden has turned the entire area into a building site.
Over 16,000 citizens signed a petition against the construction which was sent to the President of Armenia, the Chairman of National Assembly, the Prime Minister and Yerevan Mayor.
