Former Armenian parliamentarian Sasun Mikaelyan was taken back to the "Hospital for Convicts" penitentiary institution after undergoing a thorough examination in the Cardiology Department of Nork-Marash hospital.

According to cardiologist Arevik Stepanyan, the re-catheterization revealed that Mikaelyan did not need a reoperation. Only in case the cardiac artery narrows by 50% and impairs blood flow, will Mikaelyan be operated.

At present, the artery has narrowed by 20%.
The cardiologist is concerned that disease has not retreated during the last four months.

"Mikaelyan will be examined every month and will continue taking medicine," said Arevik Stepanyan.

Sasun Mikaelyan was sentenced to 8 years in prison for organizing mass disorders in the wake of the February 2008 presidential election.
