Villagers sell blackberry to meet their daily needs
Residents of Achajur village of Tavush Marz send summer months in the nearby forest harvesting blackberry.
63-year-old Misha Vardapetyan complains of resellers who earn AMD100-200 in a kilogram of blackberry during the resale.
"We sell a kilo of blackberry at AMD 300-350. As soon as resellers learn the price, they get surprised and wonder whether the berry was picked in the forest," says the angry villager and shows his scratched and bloody knees.
"As we had poor harvest this year we decided to sell blackberry to earn a little money," said Olya Aghbalyan.
"One can hardly keep a family received from the sale of blackberry. Most of our villagers live on the money received from abroad, especially from Russia," she said.
