Another suicide in the army
Contractual soldier Artur Hakobyan, 27, committed suicide at one of the military units in Vayk yesterday.
Employee of the Department of Media and Public Relations of the RA Ministry of Defense Mushegh Aghekyan confirmed the incident in an interview with "A1+".
The incident took place at around 9:30 a.m.
According to preliminary data, storekeeper of materials, contractual soldier, junior sergeant Artur Hakobyan shot himself in the head at the warehouse.
The correspondents of the Ministry of Defense did not mention the motives behind the suicide.
"A criminal case has been brought up and preliminary investigation is underway," said Mushegh Aghekyan.
Let us remind that a couple of days ago Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan convened a consultation and strictly reprimanded commanders.
According to presses, Artur committed suicide with a weapon belonging to one of the garrison members. He asked the garrison member to help him move a box. The member agreed and laid the weapon on the wall to help Artur. Artur quickly took the weapon, shot himself and died on the spot.
They say Artur also had serious family issues, which could also be a reason for committing suicide. Artur was a resident of Vayk. He was married and had a son. He had been serving at Vayk military unit since 2008.
According to another version, Artur didn't commit suicide and died after receiving 4 gunshots to his chest.
