Armenia's political elite spent a couple of minutes in front of the tombs of those who sacrificed their lives for the country's independence. Laying wreaths near the tombs of the victims, Serzh Sargsyan and other government officials rushed to Yerablur and avoided answering any questions from journalists. The roads leading to Yerablur were closed.

Today the Union of Volunteer Land Defenders visited Yerablur separately under leadership of General-Lieutenant Manvel Grigoryan. "It was thanks to these men that we now have independence and statehood. Today's borders were created thanks to them," Manvel Grigoryan told "A1+".

He preferred not to talk about the issues of the freedom-fighters and the war participants. "Today we must congratulate each other and unite."

The "First Fedayin" Sasun Mkhitaryan, who was at Yerablur today, tends to differ. "We should talk about freedom-fighters and especially their families every day, especially during celebrations. It is a shame that the authorities are making the people suffer. They have to think that each Armenian should live the good life."

Today was a real celebration at Yerablur for the Union of Young Land Defenders and the students of the Military-Athletic Seminary after Monte Melkonian. They told "A1+" that they are touched when they visit the tombs of the victims, but also take pride.

"I feel very bad when I see the mothers of the dead soldiers, but they sacrificed their lives for our homeland and I am ready to do the same," said young land defender Robert Grigoryan.
